Looking to buy a region-free blu-ray player.

I'm looking to buy a good region-free blu-ray player for $250 (maybe $300) or less. I've been looking at this one and was wondering what the general consensus is on it. Also, if you guys could maybe recommend other region-free players it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I ordered a NS-BRDVD4 refurb from GearXS for $53. It came with a newer firmware and the region switch wouldn't work. I downgraded to the firmware I uploaded and now it works. It is also available on ebay for $54.99 or make an offer.

(Press the setup button and then enter the code 9113 on the remote. A sub menu "configure player" pops up on the left. From there you can change the regions for DVD and BD.)

Does this particular player have wifi built in to enable Netflix streaming? If so, I may snap this up and eliminate the need for my Roku

Nope, that one doesn't have Wi-Fi. Just wired.

I have been considering a cheap all-region Blu-ray player, and that might just do the trick, junglalien.

DVDMagic, I would recommend going to Monoprice and buying a long ethernet cable. They are really cheap. I set up something in my back yard and wanted something more reliable than wireless.

Does it work well? Is it loud? How are the load times?

Mine is silent. It doesn't even have fan. However, I have heard people complain about the drive making noise. Maybe that was fixed when it was refurbed because mine is silent. Load times don't bother me. It is faster than my LG. I have owned 2 LGs and both were pos... One LG the drive died in a short amount of time. The other LG won't load most anchor bay titles or 50GB BD-R.

Agree with junglalien. I got that insignia too for $40 shipped on ebay, and I couldn't be happier. It's practically silent, loads fast enough, plays all regions, plays PAL SD, and plays 1080/50i material. My only gripe is that you have to enter the code every time you power on, if you're going to play a region B blu.
