I've begun to notice lately that some of the discs I've rented have had "jumps" in the image. For instance, a character maybe walking through a scene, and it looks as though frames are missing during the playback. There are slight shifts in the image. This is not during a layer change, this is during a scene, particularly when there is quick movement. I've checked the discs, there is no visible dust or scratching.

I have a Toshiba SD-2109, and some of the discs that I've noticed this on are "Sweet Lowdown" and "Hanging Up". There have been other discs I've noticed this on as well, just can't think of them off the top of my head.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it something with my player? Any help would be really appreciated.

MPEG compression can toss frames out. Shouldn't be noticeable when you play the film, only if you step through it.

Thanks for the reply, Handle! The "missing frames" are definitely noticeable during playback, not just when stepping through the film. Any ideas what may be causing this?
