Is this TV stand too short?

I am getting married in October and my cousin gave me and my fiance a 50'' Panasonic 3DHDTV for our wedding present. I didn't want to get a TV stand for it that would be too cheap and flimsy, but I also didn't want to pay an arm and a leg. So we went to an auction this past Saturday night and they just happened to have a TV stand. The bid went all the way down to $15, so I placed my bid and won it for that. So, if this wont work out it isn't that big of a deal. I bet I could sell this thing on Craigslist for $100 or more.

Anyway, it doesn't seem to be a cheap stand to me, it is very well made with good weight to it, and it is on very sturdy wheels. I have the original invoice, and it says that the previous owner paid around $400 for it a year or two ago.

It is 47.5'' long, 25.5'' wide, but it is only 18'' from the floor to the top where the TV would sit. This is the picture they had online for the auction, which I didn't even see until after I bought it. It looks rough, but it was actually just dusty and in perfect condition. It even has shelves in both side that are perfect. I'm just not sure if it's too short or not.

Does it just depend on where we sit and that sort of thing? I'm not sure if I should keep this one or sell it and get a taller one. Thoughts?

Depends on how you sit, I suppose, and the TV size. As we've discussed a bit recently, you want your eyes in the center of the the screen, vertically. Question is more: how do you attach a flat screen to it? Because it doesn't appear to be designed for that, really. And a flat screen on its own stand isn't exactly sturdy. I guess I'm assuming you are talking about a flat screen.

The 50'' Panasonic that I have is on its own very heavy stand and it sits there perfectly sturdy. It isn't tipping over unless someone just goes up to it and pushes it, hard. All I'd have to do is take the TV and sit it right on top of this stand.

This one is high enough so that our eyes would be right about in the middle of the screen, so I guess it would be fine in the end. I'm still not totally sure though.
