Best HD TV(400 dollar range)?
My 32 inch Sanyo HD TV(year and a half old) just stopped working so I'm in need of a new set. Anything out there 40in.(or so) in the 400 dollar range?

Can't download Walmart.com web pages. I can check the local Walmart store on Tuesday.

My Sanyo 37 inch is pretty good. We've had it for about 4 years and the only problem we've had is a bit of dust getting inside the screen. Great picture.

If your HDTV is only 18 months old, it still should be covered under the manufacturer's warranty. If not, then it may be cheaper to get it fixed. Where did you buy it from?

Already called about the warranty-its expired. Bought it at Walmart. It probably got fried from a power failure a few weeks ago. I know one place that charges 75 bucks just to look at it and it probably needs sodering so thats another 100 bucks so its not worth fixing.

If you were using a power surge protector for your home theater A/V equipment, your HDTV wouldn't be damaged from an power outage. If you're not using a power surge protector, then that may be the source of your problem. Paying $175.00, is much better than $400.00 for a new HDTV, especially when it's only 18 months old. Your HDTV, is still practically new! It would be a shame to dispose of it, under those circumstances....... Unless you were dissatisfied with it, or just wanted a bigger screen in the first place, then I would buy a new one.

If you don't mind open box, check out the Amazon Warehouse deals. We got our 37 inch 1080p Samsung LCD for about $375 from there a couple months ago.
On a side note, I would call 1-800-SAMSUNG one more time before buying. They just sent someone out yesterday to fix our four year old 57 inch DLP under a customer satisfaction warranty request.

Not sure what your ultimate "range" is, but with careful shopping you should be getting in the range of a Panasonic 720p 42" Plasma. Will offer a better overall picture than anything I've seen mentioned so far. But then might not be your primary concern. If you want to use as a computer monitor, probably best to stick to 1080p.
