I have a buddy who--did not take my advice--and bought a pre-package sony home theater system. Now he is trying to setup an extra set of speakers on his deck, but has found that his Sony receiver does not have the balls to power his little setup. I figure he should purchase some kind of amp, but I have no idea what is a good buy or if this is the right way to go. Thus, I end up here. What would you guys suggest?

I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you, but I sure got a chuckle out of your metaphor. http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/eek.gif

I really doubt that a reciever from a package system like that is going to be able to accept an amp. I suggest putting that system in a bed room and start a new HT system, but this time do it right. It is not worth the extra money and aggrevation for a POS system.
