I got the SR-7000,and when I tried to hook up my speaker cables(which have pins)to the receiver,I was unable to. There is this black
covering on the speaker terminal's nuts, making it impossible for me to plug them in. I can loosen the nuts on the receiver, but
there is no hole or anything on the side that
would take pins. I assume the only speaker cable this receiver will take are ones that
have spade connections,correct?

I was in the same place you are in right now - very confusing. Apparently some fool in England electrocuted himself trying to plug the wrong thing in to a banana plug opening because their outlets are the same shape and size (Hey, I don't get it either), so they have to block them off now. In any case, you can remove the black plugs by just prying them out with a knife or corkscrew or something. You could also drill a small hole in the middle and pull them out that way or use a screw, but I found a small sharp knife worked fine.
good luck!
