I need some suggestions on a new subwoofer for home theater and hi-fi. I have been running with a Velodyne CT80 for 15 months now, but it is starting to be unimpressive.
Any suggestions for a clean sounding, more impressive sub?

my suggestion is DON'T get a sub under 300. You'll just regret it later. If you can't afford a better one now, SAVE UP FOR ONE! Trust me, I tried to cheap out on a sub and bought a well recommended one that was fairly cheap, and IT SUCKED.

If you're good with your hands, a do-it-yourself sonotube sub works.
Patman built one (sunosub):

Hometheaterforum.com has lot's of how to info about this.
A single 15" Shiva driver, maybe a 24" high sub + tools...
