Karoke mixers are great if you do a lot of entertaining. Basically, they remove the voice track from your DVD's and just let the music and accompanyment play so that you can sing along with the words. However, using a mixer is not always the best way to go because the ones that I have used in the past have been cumbersome and somewhat complicated. You are better off buying one that is Karaoke ready and capable of playing VCD's (since many karaoke discs are in this format). Pioneer and Apex make excellent players and the Apex can even play CD-R's, and MP3's!!
