My new HT web site up and you can visit it at:
www.downinfrontht.com I hope you all come and take a look. Thanks. |
You created an entire WebSite and Registered it just to show off your Home Theater System? http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/confused.gif
What next www.PicturesOfMyDVDCollection.com http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif |
It looks good.....totally useless, but it looks good.
What is there to entice me to come back? ------------------ Kevin B. [email protected] | Canadian DVD Traders Website | My DVD List |
Sure, why not? It only costs $35 a year to register a domain name. My web hosting fees are less than $20/month. It was also a chance to teach myself HTML.

Well, at least you had fun doing it and you learned something. http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

Please don't take this the wrong way but... WHO CARES?? I mean, to have an entire website just to show off your home theater is a little conceited IMO. Now, had you made the site to allow people to post pictures and stats of their own HTs, it would have been a little more appropriate.

The link to your DIY flexy rack reveals nothing. Is that part of your site under construction? I would really like to see it because I'm interested in making my own rack myself instead of buying one.

I've made fixes to the elements of the site that didn't work. All the flexy instructionals are up.
For the enlightened who have "responded" to this post... If you feel that offering DVD reviews and step by step instructions and images to build HT stuff is conceited, then I question if you know what the word means. Useless? Maybe. But no more useless than some of the responses you wasted your time submitting. |
David, don't worry, some of the others were just pissed that you didn't have a coupon to give them for going to your site. http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
People, there is a lot of knowledge to be gleaned from David's DIY section. It's another resource for others who share his HT passion to use for the betterment of anyone's HT enjoyment. ------------------ PatCave ;HT Pix ;Pat's DVDs |
Thanks, Pat. Hope you like the site.

I can't understand why people in this forum are so rude. This site is well designed, tells you how to do stuff yourself and shows what equipment he uses.
From Patman [David, don't worry, some of the others were just pissed that you didn't have a coupon to give them for going to your site.] Couldn't have said it better myself. I think you should keep this site up and let us know when you update it. I'll be sure to check it out. John |
Well it is definatelty better than my site http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/wink.gif (I don't have one he hee hee.)
As for the DIY section why not add how to get fake 6.1/7.1/8.1 with a DPL reciever. Its something I've tried and I've seen various posts on this forum about it. Might be worth adding... Good luck! |
Nice site David. There are many immature individuals who like to take to flamming whenever possible on DVDtalk. Some of us home theater enthusiasts and movie fans do appreciate your site, and what you are providing.

Hi David,
Please do not let the brats get to you.I do not think they ever visit other hometheater sites and see that your type post is normal. You have a very nice looking setup. http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif |
Visited the site. Quite impressive http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/biggrin.gif. Especially like your equipment http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif and setup. Keep up the good work - looking forward to new updates.

Thanks for the encouragement folks.

Hey Dave,
I checked back to your flexi rack DIY instructions and I was wondering how much money you ended up spending as compared to buying a similar style one from an AV shop. I'm looking for a rack and contemplating about making one...but if its going to cost me more than buying a pre-made one (about $200 CAN) then I might as well buy one. Thanks Andy |
I spent about $300 US on it. I've looked around and haven't found anything that comes close to it in terms of flexibility, durability and cost. Bell'Oggetti stuff is just so ridiculously priced and the stuff you get at Ikea or Circuit City is all made from press-board that sags after two months.
I highly recommend building one. |
David,
Please don't allow the riff-raff to discourage you. Responses like those above are the main reason that almost all serious HT discussion has left this board. Too bad really. I like your DIY section. Some day I'll get around to building a flexy since my gear is starting to pile up. ------------------ Mugwump's DVDs |
