Since I purchased a 32" Wega and added an Aiwa sub to my home theater, I've been having a couple problems. I am using a Panasonic SCDK1 5 DVD changer/dolby digital system, and have the Aiwa sub hooked up to the subwoofer out. The dvd player is output by a S-video cable to the TV.

It seems no matter what DVD is playing, I have a couple small problems. The first is a quiet thumping noise coming from the sub about every 2 seconds. Also, white lines about 1" thick flash on the screen about every 2 seconds. This part is most noticeable on dark backgrounds.

I have tried keeping the S-video cable and subwoofer's cable away from anything which could cause interference, but this still happens. I've checked all connections and they appear to be hooked up properly. I've also done this with no other electronic devices or lights on, with no results.

Any suggestions?

Well this wont help you but i had a problem like that. I have a 20" Wega TV and when i had my DVD hooked up to the TV over the S-Video cable whenever the background and sceen got very dark the pickture would go out. then come back in like 2-4 seconds...This Got very anyouing and i could never stop it so i stoped using the S-Video cable and just used normal RCA's. I would love to know why this happenes so i could go back to S-Video tho! Good Luck

I would bet your sub's power supply is flaky. It sounds like it's surging the power causing the thumping and the S-video cable is picking up interference or maybe the TV itself is. I would turn the sub down and the receiver sub output volume up to see if it's the sub losing signal and regaining signal and basically turning on and off over and over. You didn't mention if your sub has an auto turn-on feature. This is a known problem with most that are though. (The thumping, not the lines) the lines are just MY hypothesis.
