Netflix/blu ray player/tv help needed

I posted this over in 'Tech Talk' last night, but have yet to receive an answer. I figured since this is also somewhat DVD related and his forum gets more views, I would go ahead and post here too.

Is it possible to use a wireless bridge to watch Netflix from my laptop on my regular TV? And if so, how do you hook up the wireless bridge?

At the moment the only way I am able to watch Netflix is to hook up the laptop to the TV via HDMI which is fine, but sometimes I'd like to be on my laptop while watching the movie.

I do have a Panasonic DMP-BD60 blu ray player that is wifi enabled, but I believe only via ethernet cable which isn't viable since the TV and blu ray player are at the opposite end of the house to the office were the wireless router is set up.

All help is much appreciated, thanks!

I don't think the 60 will do Netflix anyway since that was a model from last year only the 65/85 BR players support that (yes, the 3d and VCR combo too, but I don't know the model numbers).

What do you mean by wireless bridge? That's not going to output a video signal to the TV. You'd need some sort of media extender.

What about a media unit like the Roku box? I think it's $70-100 and will stream Netflix to your TV.

Yeah, I've contemplated the roku box.

Taking the blu ray player out of the equation is there any other way to connect the laptop to the TV to enable me to watch Netflix instead of using HDMI cables?

That's kinda what I thought the wireless bridge would do - act as a go between from the TV to the laptop.

I'm not exactly that tech savvy so of course could be way off with this theory

The Roku is the wireless bridge you are looking for. Or a newer BDp. Or the new AppleTV. Or several other devices. Some TVs have it built in. 2 years ago you couldn't do this without a TV station, now there are $60 devices sitting on shelves.

I guess something like this would work, but I'd go for the Roku box (or something similar). Not only is it cheaper, but you'd probably get better results (no lag, purpose built, etc.).

Might add that you don't even need the laptop on for Netflix with these boxes.
