Vintage audio reciever question - Cleaning

I recently aquired a Technics SA-300 audio reciever. It's in excellent condition. It's a so-so quality 30 watt stereo amp with tuner made in 1978-1979. Not worth much, but I want to keep it, maybe hook up a record player to it.

All it's bulbs light up and the FM tuner works perfectly (I've read that many vintage tuners need their needles adjusted, but this one works great). The only problem is the volume knob gives off static when it is being turned. As I increase or decrease the volume I get loud static. This is caused by dirt and or corosion on the inside. How would I go about cleaning this?

Technics was a crap receiver when they were new. Now that it's 30 years old it isn't going to be much better. I would start with pulling the cover and blow out the dust. The knob comes off and blow that out too.

Wear a dust mask before you spray that fossil receiver.

You would have to open up the receiver completely and try to get the actual electronic component, the potentiometer, and clean that out. Using an air duster won't work, you almost always have to open it up to lightly clean it with a q-tip and low-grade alcohol.
