So.... Tell me about Samsung Plasmas..
HH Gregg just opened up a store near me, and they have a 58" Samsung Plasma for $1499.99, retail is listed at 1999.99. On their website it's listed as 1699.99, it's a grand opening special.
It's this TV.. http://www.hhgregg.com/ProductDetail...roductID=24572
Any thoughts on it ? It'd be replacing a 7 year old Sony RP LCD.

The model number is PN58C550.
Looks fine to me. I like hhgregg, got a panny plasma from them last year with two years no interest, paid off now. Maybe see if you qualify for the 0% financing.

Amazon has it for about a $100 more. I did not check to see if it had free shipping, but should be no tax for most.
I have read good things about the Samsung. However I'm more of a Panasonic fan in Plasma because there is so much more information available on set up.

As it just so happens, I'm having that very model delivered to my home on Tuesday.
It was down to that model, or the Panasonic S2 series. After poking around AVS Forums, I decided to get the Samsung.
We'll see...

My new, fresh out of the box, Samsung Plasma buzzes like an angry mosquito.
This was brought up in other Forums, but some have described no problems. Unfortunately, I'm not a lucky one.
Also, it distorts one of my component inputs, something my Sony LCD never ever did.
Picture quality is good, but not outstanding.
It'll be gone as soon as the store can pick it up.

I'm debating about going between a Samsung Plasma and a LED-LCD or something different. I'm assuming your Plasma was probably just an issue with that set and hopefully not common.
