OK, this may be a dumb question, but please help me out. If I were to buy a progressive scan dvd player, would I be able to tell a difference if I connected it with S-Video, or is it strictly for component?
Thanks

You must have a TV or monitor capable of displaying 480p (all HDTV's support this mode) AND component inputs to feed the progressive scan signal from the DVD.

However, many HDTV's will convert an interlaced signal to progressive internally. Some even have 3:2 pulldown built in (one of the main advantages of the progressive scan players). But whether you will be able to see a difference/improvment depends on the quality of your TV's internal line doubler.

The progressive scan signal only goes out thru the component outputs of a prog scan DVD player.
