I added a LD player to my system earlier this year and haven't regretted it. I've been watching Star Wars, Sound of Music, Jurassic Park and Disney in WS glory since then. I picked up a used Pioneer at a local electronics house for about $150.00. The big thing to look for is the automatic changing of sides. Patman is very knowledgable on LD and helped me when I was looking. As much as I hate to admit it, eBay can be a good place because many are selling players with a collection of discs. www.hometheaterforum.com is also a good place for LD information.

i have even thought of selling mine but then i think about the logistics of sending my LD player and the 150 plus ld's to someone.pioneer is a good brand the cld 704 was a very good unit if you can find one. i have a cld 59 pioneer elite- the 59 ,79,99 elites are all very good players with some differences in features. you will also need to get a rf demodulator to convert the LD players ac-3 signal to one that can be read by current receivers.if you have an older receiver then it may have a built in port for ac-3 from a ld player. my denon 3200 does.

hmm i cant seem to find the guide that goes with the player, ill have to dig around to see if i can find it. I know I have it somewhere, packrat that I am, lets see, best guess is say 8 or 9 years old. Oh and a bonus to it also is that it plays cdrs which my dvd player does not.

I payed $90 each for my two players. The main one I am using now is a Pioneer Laseractive and I found it in a pawn shop. Video quality is okay, but it has digital memory and that makes a big difference with CLV discs when using slow mo or freeze frame. Plus it has digital optical out for great sound.
