In a theater, when a DTS film is shown, the soundtrack is presented from a DTS CD. Would such a CD play on a DTS-decoding DVD player with a DTS receiver? Just wondering.

No, in theaters, they use a CD-ROM which contains the DTS-coded audio. It is not the same as a DTS CD. I am sure there is a way to play these CD-ROMs on a home setup, but I don't know how

I know my Sony DVPS550D wouldn't play DTS cds. My new Toshiba SD-5109 does though. A good way to tell is to try to play the DTS audio-only bonus track on The Eagles dvd. My Sony wouldn't play it, but the Toshiba does. I got The Police's Greatest Hits on DTS cd & it sounds great. I don't know how you'd get a DTS cd from the theater, but I'd imagine it'd play on a player that plays regular DTS cds.
