Re: What home theater speakers do you use right now?
I upgraded a few years ago to the Definitive Technology BP8080 and CS8080 up front, then moved my previous fronts BP20s to the side, then kept my BP2 rears to create a 7.1 system. My Velodyne F1500 subwoofer is getting long in the tooth, probably don't need as large of a subwoofer next time, although it is nice to feel the air move with the amount of pressure it can put out.

Re: What home theater speakers - Mixing JBL with Dynaudio center channel?
I have some JBL L-166 speakers, and have inherited a pair of JBL L-19 bookshelf speakers and a Dynaudio Audience C120+ Center Channel Speaker, and Polk subwoofer. I’m thinking of combining these to use for a home theater system.
Individually the Dynaudio center channel gets great reviews, and I have long enjoyed the sound from my JBL-L166s. I am wondering if they would still sound great together (or should I sell the dynaudio to get a JBL center channel)? Any thoughts or advice?
Best,
Michael

It comes into play most noticeably when you have sounds panning left to right or vice versa. You can usually get away with different speakers for surround duty.
That said, the ideal set up is identical speakers all around. Once you deviate from that, everything is a compromise of some sort.
If you aren't too critical a listener though, I'm sure the speakers you have will work in a pinch.

Re: What home theater speakers do you use right now?
I just bought (nearly) a full set of Klipsch reference speakers. I only have the center channel to go. I haven't hooked them up yet. The rears are different than pictured but this is basically the set:

I have all SVS speakers. Mixture of their Prime series (2 Towers, 1 Center, 4 Elevations, 5 Bookshelfs, 2 12” Subs) for a 7.2.4 config. I have 2 more ceiling connections so I can easily add 3 more ceilings to go to a 7.2.6 configuration when I decide to upgrade from my current receiver to one with 13 channels.

I'm still rocking my Ascend Acoustics 7 speaker setup with two Klipsch subs. Just haven't had a chance to hook them up at the new house yet

Our experience with soundbars wasn't enough good that's why my husband wants to change them with ProCinema1000. I think it could be a better idea for our medium-sized home theatre. We are planning to purchase them before our receivers' purchase.

Good... soundbars are trash. For the money though, I personally would not go with ProCinema 1000. There are much better options.

Polk Signature S55 - RF & LF
Polk Signature S30 - C
KEF Q100 - SL & SR
Sony SSCSE - upfiring Atmos (really cheap additions just to see what, if any, difference they'd make)

I'm a firm believer in timbre matching for HT use. Not everybody else is.

I agree with this audiophile philosophy 100%. However, while I have 6 Paradigm Mini-Monitors for 7.1, plus the matching center speaker, and a Paradigm 15" subwoofer, I use Paradigm Titans for the 4 height channels (the Mini-Monitors were just too darn big to mount).

Re: What home theater speakers do you use right now?
I have NHT towers at the front and run them in bi-amp mode, along with NHT speakers on stands at the rear, and an SVS powered subwoofer to the left of the television cabinet. The center channel speaker is Polk Audio CSI A4 that has two 5.25 inch balanced drives and a 1 inch tweeter and this is in the center of the cabinet and below the television and aimed up at a slight angle.
The Polk center channel speaker helped with dialog but the biggest improvement in overall sound quality was the addition of the SVS 12 inch non-ported powered subwoofer. In my room the non-ported version provides more than enough bass and being self powered with its own internal 300-Watts RMS amp there was no reduction in power from the receiver to my other 5 speakers. Highly recommend the SVS subwoofers and subwoofer cable.

Still using my Infinity Beta series I bought back in 2005. Sub went bad and I picked up a good Klipsch sub, but my tower mains, the center and three surrounds are still performing like new.

My speaker setup:
Center: Energy Connoisseur Series CC-10 speaker
Front L/R: Energy Connoisseur Series CB-10 speakers
Surround L/R: Definitive Technology ProMonitor 800 speakers
I also have a pair of Energy Take 5 Classic satellite speakers set up as height speakers for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X but usually leave them turned off unless I'm playing something actually encoded with either one. (The rest of the time I'd rather save the watts for the other channels instead of use them on synthesized height channels.)

In the mancave™ I'm still using the Logitech z680 speaker set I got on Amazon in '04. Strong clear sound to this day. Upstairs in the living room we use a Samsung soundbar with Bluetooth subwoofer that sounds nearly as good, though not as immersive.

Been using my Sonus Faber Concertinos and Sonus Faber Piccolo Solo Centers for 2 decades now. 6.1 setup. Still loving those speakers. And bass is handled by a Martin Logan Depth i SW.
