I think I've convinced my hubby to buy my DVD player tomorrow.
I skimmed through the other postings, which leads me to believe that I'd be better off getting a player made by Pioneer (I've always hated their design!) or Sony. Seems like I've read a few problems with Toshibas (can't play The Abyss? The sheer HORROR! Cameron is one of the reasons I need a DVD player, like now) Remember, I'm a newbie, I know very little about the whole DVD experience...is there anything really major I should look for as far as features are concerned? Right now it will just be the TV and the DVD. I most certainly want to expand to include the subwoofer, receiver, the whole home theater experience. But right now, tomorrow I'll be walking into Best Buy with approx. $250 bucks. Help (again) |
With the problems that people are experiencing with certain Toshiba models, I would stick with either Pioneer, Sony, or Panasonic!!!! You should be able to find one of these to fit your price range of $250 or less!!! Good Luck!!! http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

That helps, thanks. My husband just said let's go buy now!!!! I'll let you know the results.

I don't think you can go wrong with the new Sony or Pioneer players. However, Panasonic has had problems in the past. The new players may be fine though. I would go Sony of Pioneer myself.

Yes, the Toshiba 2109 now the 1200 has very few if no problems compared to its other models. the 3109 is most notorious for its ID4 and Abyss problems, but the 2109 rarely has these problems.
