I currently have my DVD Player set to output the center channel 3dB above level. Is this enough for DVD's dialog sake, is this too much, or just right?

I use the test function of my receiver which sends out a test signal to each respective speaker. I then calibrated it using an SPL meter (available at Radio Shack).
www.hometheaterforum.com might have some detailed information.

Hope that helps.

The most used method is a +1db for the center and rears.

The above can't possibly be true.

Do whatever sounds best to you. Use your receiver's test tone and your ears or an SPL meter.

Get the Video Essentials DVD and a Radio Shack SPL meter. You will have all of the setup information you need.
