On friday I am picking up my theater system at Sears and want to know what I should use for running 12awg wire up the corners of my walls. I have sheetrock walls and would prefer whattever I use to be available at Sears (but Home Depot is on my way home if needed).

This is the deal.

Drill a hole were you want the wire to come out. Drill another at the bottom of the wall below the first. Take a string and tie a metal key chain to the end and drop it down the from the top hole. Use an auto magnet to fish it out the hole on the bottom. Tie your eire to it and putt it up!

I know for a fact that my parents won't want me drilling holes in my bedroom walls. I'll only be living here til I'm out of college and I'll only be in this room for one more year, then it's the basement.

AR makes a 18AWG speaker cable for runs on walls. It is .5mm thick and has a self-stick backing, is white but can be painted. It is about $1.00/ft at Sound City. 18AWG may not be as heavy as you want, but it will solve your routing/parent problem where the wire is exposed. This may be a good compromise, particularly for your rear speakers.

It needs to be something that will secure 12awg wire since I've already ordered that (and got it at a really good price). Are there any staples that would work (while not being too opvious)? Basically I want to secure the wire tightly into the corners.

I am sure you can find wire anchors at Radio Shack.

Since I don't yet have the wire and want to be prepared, how big would they need to be for the 12awg wire? Also, if I were to get the kind of staples that hammer into the wall, how big should they be?

12AWG wire is pretty thick -- Radio Shack sells 12AWG Mega Cable, which probably is the exact same cable as the AR/Recotone cable you ordered, so you can easily check what size anchors would work.

Also, how do the ancors stay on the wall and how many should I use on a 5ft stretch?
