New TV
Need some help picking out a new TV. I'm looking to upgrade to a larger size preferably over 50" for under $1,800 (College student with minimal income ). There are 3 models that I have been looking at and was wondering if anyone can make a suggestion out of these three or maybe something else. Also no plasmas please.
1.Samsung LN52B530
2.Vizio VF550M
3.Sony KDL-52S5100

Re: New TV
I just picked up the Sharp LC52LE700UN. I highly recommend it. Great overall picture and for $1768 at Amazon.

Otherwise if your set on your choices I'd go with the SAmmy

I concur. The 54" G10 is under $1600 at Amazon. Or:

Re: New TV
I've actually heard alot of bad things about plasmas and wanted to stick to LCD.
Really there just the ones I've been leaning towards but like I said I'm open for suggestion.
With that price I may have break my plasma dislikes.

Re: New TV
Plasmas have changed since 2002. I'm betting most of what you heard came from people who never actually owned one. There has been an amazing amount of "plasma bad!" FUD spread over the years.
It is a bit more important to actually set a plasma up properly when brand new than with an LCD. But you should set any TV up, anyway, to get the best picture.

Re: New TV
The Panasonic Plasma (or Pioneer Kuro) would have SIGNIFICANTLY better picture than anything you listed. I say this owning a 1080p 46" LCD by Samsung.
If picture quality is not the most important factor to you (and I'm not saying that to be a smart ass), then you can skip the Panny Plasma. That is really the sole reason to get one. Well actually because of the urban legends that you have heard about plasma's they are some of the best values going. The only better value would be a front projector (see my signature).
