If watching movies in letterbox on my large screen Mitsubishi does not bother me, am I, in fact, seeing all of the picture or will I get a slightly different picture if I actually bought a TV designed for 16x9?

Remarkably (heh), discs that are labelled "enhanced for 16x9 tvs" are, um, enhanced for 16x9 tvs. These are sometimes labelled "widescreen anamorphic" or just "anamorphic."

Non-anamorphic dvds will display in the same resolution on 4:3 and 16:9 sets.

Here's some more info: http://smr-home-theatre.org/dvd/anam...namorphic.html

Thanks for the link. It answered all my questions...um I think.

When watching in letterbox (vs anamorphic or 16:9 enhanced) you are seeing the image in the proper aspect ratio.

But 16:9 enhanced TVs will let you see more lines of resolution which results in a better looking picture rather than one that is larger or a different size.<center>
