Hi,
My setup is a Toshiba SD1200 dvd player conencted via digital coax to a cambridge soundworks desktop theatre DTT2500 Dolby Digital decoder/amp. I previously had a sharp dvd player connected to the reciever and it worked fine. With the toshiba, when navigating the menu, sometimes after selecting items a "thump" will be heard through the speakers. At first i thought the player was defective so i exchanged it for another SD1200 and that one has the same problem. The thump occurs several spots but once the movie begins it doesn't do the thump. It only occurs in the menu system of the disc. For example, in the abyss, when i go to audio options and select DD 5.1 the sound will be silent and then once i press enter on the remote the thump is heard. Like i said, i had the sharp player before and it did not do this so i'm led to believe perhaps there is some kind of incompatibility between the player and the reciever. Other SD1200 owners have not reported such problems so i am really at a loss. the only thing i can think of is to buy a thicker cable to connect the player to the reciever. The one i am using is rather thin but i don't wanna shell out 20 bucks if it's not gonna fix the problem. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm prolly gonna call toshiba and see if they can shed some light, but at this point i'm desperate. I love this player but the thump really aggrvates me.Thanks ------------------ Dave http://www.dvdtracker.com/~dfbennett |
