Hi,

I have a DVD player that has a built in DD decoder, but it doesn't have one for DTS. I'm wondering if it's possible to pop in a DTS disc & have the system dowmix the sound to 2.0??

First off don't play a DTS soundtrack if you do not have a decoder, you can do damage to your equipment. Second, all DTS discs are required to have a Dolby 2.0 (pro-logic) mix on them, so if you already have a DD decoder in your amp, it will decode a Pro-Logic mix with no problem.

Every dvd has at least one Dolby Digital audio track, which tends to be 2-channel stereo on DTS discs. So you'll be able to play and hear that.

While it's not the same as downmixing the DTS track to 2.0, it's not silence.

I'm sorry, I meant when you switch to a DTS audio track you don't hear anything. Some DTS discs have DD 5.1 also.
