Anyone experience this?
This started happening only after 3 months after I bought the player.
I insert a dual layer disc, and after about a second trying to initialize the disc, it'll say, it can't read these types of dvd's (the same message you get when you insert a disc upside down). After it is initialized however, it'll have no problems whatsoever. The problem is in the initialization process.
I admit I overused this player, but now, it's becoming a real pain. In order to play dual layer discs....to name a few, all the Lethal Weapon Directors Cuts, Matrix, Shawshank Redemption etc, won't play unless I leave a single layer DVD (like Terminator 1) running for at least 30 minutes. Then the disc will load.
What makes initializing a dual layer disc from initializing a single layer disc? I tried cleaning the lens and that didn't help.
Anyone have any ideas? Please help.

That $uck$, specially that Panasonic only has a 3 months warranty.
Sorry, can't help. Never heard of this problem before.
The previous generation of players A110, A310 had problem with the optical pickup.
Doesn't seem like the same problem in your case.
