I'm looking for another DVD player. I currnetly have the Toshiba 2109. I've been quite happy with that one. Of the Sony 560 or the Toshiba 2200, which do you think is the better player? Thanks for you input.

Jim, I am thinking of getting a 360 or 560 myself. There are comments on both here: http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/003558.html

I am leaning toward the Sony mainly because of the remote. I am very picky with the design, layout and general "intuitiveness" of remotes, and I've found that Sony is usually best at that business.

Either would be a good player.Just remember that the down conversion of Sony`s create a soft picture. The 2200 has a sharper picture on a 4:3 screen.I do like the remote on the Sony a lot better than the 2200.

SONY -- (Sony's do have a softer picture for downconverted anamorphic DVDs, but with the benefit of no artifacting.)

Thanks to robodad for confirming that the 2 dvds for 4.95 deal is still on for SONY players. It is a columbia house/sony promo. NO COMMITMENT and NO AUTOMATIC MAILINGS.

So, you can get over 70 bucks MSRP of DVDs for an additional 5 bucks with a sony player. That can make the sony an amazing deal.

I am one very happy camper with my new Sony 360. To be honest, I didn't even consider the new Toshiba models, though, because I know they still use the "discard" method of downconversion, which is too distracting for my viewing experience. The Sony does produce a slightly softer image, but I have to say that, after using the player for a few days, it produces the most film-like image I've seen from any DVD player.

BTW, I wouldn't even consider the 560 if you don't need the built-in Dolby Digital decoder. Beyond that there is really no difference between the 360 and 560.

The 360 has no headphone jack and the 560 does. A very small detail, but something that should be noted.

1)How is the layer change for the Sony 560D?

2) Does Matrix and the menu play smooth? Does the cursor at the menu stutter?

3) Does it pass Pluge?

I think I will pick this one up so I can have two players in my home.
