Hey everyone, this is my first post so I hope I'm putting it in the right area. I'm the market for a new wega and I am wondering on certain model #'s. First, I found a webstire selling the model KV27FS12 but it's not on the sony website. How is this tv differnet than the KV27FV15 model? I also found a site selling a KV27FV16 model... is that a typo? I guess this question is kinda specific so I'm sorry if I wasted your time! Thanks in advance =)

Where did you see a site selling the KV-27FV16? That's the replacement for the discontinued KV-27FV15 model.

woonsta - Generally, all of the Wega models that contain "FS" in the model number are the entry level models.

They differ from the "FV" series in the fact that they generally won't have things like PiP and some of the other bells and whistles.

Models with "XBR" in the model number are Sony's upper end Wega models. They have features like wireless headphones, more power in the native sound system, a different picture filter, and the ability to display the enhanced picture of anamorphic DVDs automatically.

Whether the extra features (and higher costs) of the FV and XBR series are worth it is largely a matter of personal preference and budget. Be sure to go to a dealer or a friend and spend some time with the sets before deciding.

Good luck,

If you want to see actual comparisons, try out www.sony.com and go to Electronics-->TVs and so on until you get to the models you are interested in, then you can see the differences between models. Another good site to check out is www.cnet.com. They have some models of the Sony TV's and you can select which models you are interested and they will list all the features of each model on the same screen and you can compare that way. Of course none of this compares with actually going to your local Best Buy or B&M store and seeing the image and features for yourself. This also has the disadvantage of the stores having a limited selection of the TVs. But since you already know you want a Vega, you know of the excellent quality of these TVs and you just need to figure out what features you're willing to pay for.

woonsta, if you can afford it, I would wait a little more. Current WEGA are not compatible for high definition.

The newer models (I think they are coming out this summer) will be. (By buying an additional set on top box).
Will be about the same price as the current models.
And if I am not mistaken, they will also accept 480-Progressive video Signal.

There was a thread here about it, a while back.

You can also check the HomeTheatreForum. They have many knowleagable persons there. Good luck.
