I am deciding between two Hughes model DirecTV systems. One has just one set of video/audio right & left in, the other has two sets. Do I really need two sets? Is it just as well that the receiver is connected to the VCR with rf and hooked to the tv with the audio and s-video hookup?

Personally, I would go with two sets. Currently we have one set of audio jacks going to the TV along with S-video, the other set going to the VCR and the coax going to a TV in another room(mirroring) so we can watch DSS in two rooms(but the same channel). Think about this kind of thing and if you want to do it. I say if it's not a bunch more go with two sets just in case.

I have two sets as well. One the the rec and one to the vcr. I can not think of a reason why they would make one with just one set. I have the RCA dolby digital model picked it up Christmas of 98 open box at circuit city with the dish for like 180.00d. I use the sony dish still.

I am only hooking it up to my TV and my Toshiba VCR. Will the VCR taping it from the RF degrade the quality too much so that i should be taping from the DSS from video / audio in on the VCR? I always use high grade TDK tapes. I will also have cable hooked up from the receiver to the VCR up to the TV for my local channels.
