I am getting DirecTV next month, and was wondering if I should go ahead and get Tivo also? Is the only advantage to pause a program while it is airing live? I know you can store shows on it too, but how many? Does it work with Directv? Anyone have any complaints / praises?
Thanks!

If you can hold out for a little bit longer, there is a combo directTV/TiVo (called DirecTiVo) coming out soon. TiVo has totally changed my tv habbits. I come home from work, and all this great tv is waiting for me. you won't regret it!!

Now that I have looked into it, ReplayTV is sounding better with its no monthly fee. Anyone have any comments on Replay?

The only problem I have with the whole hard drive thing is that you can't save a program forever. For example I would love to have all the law and orders from A & E but after a few shows no more space. Later

You can offload them to VHS for storage, I believe.
