Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction on this one.

Old Mitsubishi projection TV, old Samsung VCR, new Sony DVP S-360 DVD player. When the menus are up, no problem. No problem playing tapes in the VCR (who cares http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif ), but when we play the movie on DVD, the contrast is fading in and out drastically. I have tried separating the components, switching the cables around, all to no avail. Any suggestions? Do you think that this is a cable, DVD/VCR player, or TV problem? Has anyone had a similar problem before?

Any help would be much appreciated - Thanks!

Are you playing the DVD player through the VCR? This might be a macrovision problem.

Give us more on how each unit is connected.

Yeah, We're running the DVD player through the VCR, but not with S-video or anything. (It's a really old VCR) I'm just using the one video in and I had to use a splitter to join the audio cables into one, because the sound gets screwy if I use both audio ins in the VCR. Do you think that it sounds like a VCR problem? I have a better VCR at my place, do you think that subbing it in would be a good starting point? Thanks again...

Have you tried connecting the DVD player directly to the TV and not through the VCR?

If that works, then what you are experiencing is a type of macrovision copy protection.

How many inputs do you have on your TV and what type are they?<center>

Found the cable I needed, bypassed the VCR, picture looks great! There's probably an easier way to wire it, but going around the VCR worked, so that'll do just fine... Thanks again for the suggestion, you guys rock!
