Hey,
I'm somewhat new to the forum. I've been reading through it for some time now but I just made an account today. I currently own a Kenwood VR-357 receiver along with a set of Bose 301's for my personal "sound" system. Now my question is.. what DVD player would best accompany this setup? From what I gather in this forum.. the Toshiba's seem to be liked by many. So I have been considering the 3109. However, I would like some other suggestions before I jump in. I figure I should get something that supports dolby/dts for future use when/if I upgrade my stereo. I am currently viewing DVD's on my Dell Inspiron 7000 (using tv-out), yet I am sick of the constant lockups/de-synch's/etc that this decoder/drive combination provides.

Thanks for any help,
Keith

I think due to the combination of price and quality, you'll find mostly Toshibas. That doesn't mean they are necessarily the best, but they know how to put out a quality product at a fair price. I have had 2 Toshibas and love them. I just picked up a third for my schools raffle (hint, hint)
Just about any of the major brands offer expected features, quality and can be found at a bargain somewhere. Check out www.audioreview.com for feedback from owners.

If you want to get a good player at a modest price, I would recommend Panasonic or Toshiba. Both companies have been promoting DVD since its inception and they have been putting out some great entry level players. Keep an eye out because new players are being released by these companies and you may be able to find a deal on the previous models. Stick to the big Japanese manufacturers such as Panasonic, Toshiba, Pioneer, & Sony. They all make entry level players that are great performers and offer above average build and reliability.

Hello again,
Just wanted to extend my thanks for the player suggestions. I ended up ordering the Toshiba SD-2200 @ buy.com for $250 and then used a $30 coupon against it. It should be arriving today and I will share my experience with the forum after I set it up with my system.

Thanks!
Keith
