Boosting up audio on VHS (eeek!) tapes

Yes I still use VHS (just to tape Tv shows!), and anyway, my tapes of the tv show "The Charmings" (from the late 80s), have low audio. Anyone know how I can boost it up? I am going to be re-dubbing them onto other tapes (high grade TDK ones), and have been thinking of getting a GoVideo dual deck VCR. But, is there anyway to get the audio level boosted up? Many thanks!
