Default Quick Question For All You High Def Experts Out There

I recently bought an Element 32 in 1080i tv, as well as a Phillips BD player. I'm blown away by how much better the picture looks compared to DVD. My question is this though. Would getting an HDMI cable make the picture quality that much better? My dad keeps telling me to get one, but I dont wanna drop the cash if it isn't that big of an improvement. thanks!

Well I guess that would depend on how you have it connected now and how good the display device is.

Good inexpensive hdmi cables here

HDMI cables are getting pretty inexpensive. Fry's just last week had 10 foot cables for $1.99. How are you connecting it up now? Usually you can get the full HD signal if you use other types like coaxial or S-Video.

You mean "can't" get the HD signal, right? Component would do it though.

Although, I think in some cases you can't get 1080p over component. It's technically possible, but some devices/displays don't do it. A DVD player generally won't upscale over component either.

Much debate is made if HDMI has a better pic quality then component. I'm assuming your using at least component. Personally, I doubt you would see a difference on that small of a tv.

But as other have pointed out, you can probably go pick one up for less then $5.00, try it and then return it if you didn't see a difference.

I have gone all HDMI as they are so cheap, but mainly for the convenience (I have a HDMI switcher for the media room).
