The new 2009 Sony BDP-S360 Blu-Ray Player

Does anyone own this?

is there a big difference between this and the BDP-S350 model?

I have a gift card for $50 and I was thinking of buying the S350 ($259.99) but now I am undecided.

It appears the main difference is integrated wifi for BD-Live. But, I hear BD-Live has been underwhelming so far.

it is available at Amazon if you click on the newer model under the BDP-S350 model.

Our local Sears has them for $299. They have the S350 for $279.

WiFi would be cool, but I have yet to even see what BD Live has to offer. I just watch the movies.

I've used BD-Live with a few of my Blu Rays played on my PS3 and the only thing that I've seen so far are trailers for upcoming movies or extra that would probably not good enough to be included on the Blu Ray disc itself. It's cool to have, but it's not a necessity. I compare it to a TV with Picture-in-Picture. Nice to have, but probably only used a few times in the first several months of ownership.

This has gotten bad reviews at Amazon

One person said the unit has a toy like build quality and Sony cut corners to make this unit.

maybe the BDP-350 is the better buy.

Or Oppo's BDP-83, which is soon to be released to the general public. I got mine and it's fantastic.

Looks like a nice improvement. However I think (just me) that BD-LIve is a joke. I played around with a few times and there is not much of a benefit I can find from it. This is the same feature HD DVD had at the launch and it was the same. As for the new player the wi-fi may help those how would like to upgrade the firmware via the internet.

BD-Live doesn't offer much, so I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Ditto. No more to say, really.

Will the Oppo play Divx and Xvid?

I took a thumb drive and played an episode of The Office on it. I can't say for sure. There's a faq online that says what it will currently support.

I have the 360 and have been very happy with it. I can't compare it to other models as it is the only one I have had.

It does not have wi-fi though.
