Ordering this Tv soon
Panasonic TH-50PZ80U
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...pf_rd_i=507846 Any other tv's in the same price range you would recommend over this, or a better price any of you guys have found on this? I'm probably going to wait till after the super bowl as I have heard prices usually drop after. Currently have a 42'' samsung plasma 720p tv that I'm replacing, I assume 1080p is worth it on a 50" set. |
Re: Ordering this Tv soon
I have it, about 2 weeks now. Love it.
Got it for 1268 thru Amazon/Adorama. |
Re: Ordering this Tv soon
I think the replacement 2009 model for that is supposed to start hitting stores sometime in March if you don't mind waiting.

If you wait until after Superbowl you might save around $50-100 more. But I'm pretty sure the 2008 line has hit it's rock bottom price tier. |

Re: Ordering this Tv soon
Check your local Sears, it's on clearance for $900.
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_05775528000P NVM, this is the PX model. |

I'd say 720p is fine. Personally I wouldn't go 1080p unless it is only a $100 or $200 different. |
Re: Ordering this Tv soon

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc..._-NA-_-NA-_-NA its $1250 after coupon, while the panasonic $1364 |

I'd get the 720p and put the 350 towards a BD player. |
Re: Ordering this Tv soon
Save the money, get the 720p. I wish I had with my Panasonic Plasma. :)

And that exact thought did cross my mind, $350 is a blu ray player. :) |

yea, im at the point now between choosing the 720 or 1080 model of the panny. I measured last night and its right at 9 feet.
And that exact thought did cross my mind, $350 is a blu ray player. :) 1- a 1080p 50" Panasonic and NO Blu-ray player or 2- a 720p 50" Panasonic and a Blu-ray player CHOOSE 1 SILLY GOOSE! I have a 720p Panny Plasma. My buddy has a 1080p. I can;t even tell the difference no matter how much I try. MAYBE if I did a side by side but the 720 picture is stunning. |
Re: Ordering this Tv soon
I can afford both, its just that saving 350 and using that on a blu ray sounds better.
But yea, I have decided on the PX model, I have read alot of threads on avsforums that say the same thing as you, most can't really tell much of a difference, only saw a few that said it was definetly better (which i'm sure are the ones that spent extra on the 1080 ;) Just doesnt seem worth the extra 350 after the reviews I have read, plus im no videophile, I'm sure it's going to look much better than my current samsung 42" plasma from last year. |
Re: Ordering this Tv soon

For 240 bucks more I figured what the hell, I plan on keeping the tv for a good while. Plus I like the fact that the 3 hdmi input is on the side instead of the front because I plan on having the 360, hd directv, and ps3 hooked up and i can just put the xbox or ps3 on the side of the tv since my a/v cabinet is full anyways. Will look much better than having a cable coming out of the front. |
Re: Ordering this Tv soon
Well shit, they just called me and told me my order was cancelled. Turns out they had a deal w/ panasonic for 500 of these at a lower price since this model is gonna be discontinued, well someone posted the deal before contract was done and they said panasonic backed out today.
Oh well that sucks, great price for that model. At least the guy on the phone was nice and explained it to me. |
Re: Ordering this Tv soon
i dont know the price you were getting but B&H has this for $1400 shipped free, no tax and it is in-stock.
