Very odd too considering Pioneer didn't announce any new sets at CES.

God, the Kuro is the absolute best tv on the market. No LCD can come close to the blacks or the overall picture quality of this tv.

Costco has the 5020FD for $1999 right now. You'll additionally pay tax and $99 shipping (I haven't checked to see if it's available in store also), but you get the manufacturer's warranty extended to 2 years and it would still be a little cheaper final price.
check it out |

Solid. In-store price with only sales tax would be a steal. I wish I was in the market for a new TV.
I just got back from my local Costco. The 50" KURO was marked at $1,899. That seems like a heck of a good deal. I don't think the wife would appreciate me buying a second Kuro in less than a year, though. |

Any comparisons out ther for this tv vs. the 50PZ800U Panny?

Panny is no slouch at all, but the Kuro is the best tv on the market, imo.

If you care about flicker-free 24fps playback, you should wait for the upcoming Panasonic plasma offerings for 2009, but Pioneer plasmas have that problem licked.

^ Perhps worthy of another thread, but how bad is the 24p flicker on the 2008 Panny line?
Most of Panny's 2009 models won't debut until this summer (one in March) and am assuming they will not be cheap. http://www.plasmatvbuyingguide.com/p...-plasmatv.html |

That's why I bought my 720p Panasma for relatively cheap and intend on keeping it for a while until the Kuros come down even further. Yes, I had alterior motives when I bought the "720p" HDTV.
