Need help with new HDTV (dvd/vcr/wii/xbox etc)

Hello,

We just got a 42LG30. It comes with 2 AV slots, 2 component slots, 3 hdmi slots and several other slots.

The VCR/DVD player takes up the 2 av slots. Our wii has av cords (3 pronged, red, white, yellow), and we stuck them into the component slots, and we got picture, but it was black/white and fuzzy looking. Do we just need to get the component video cable for the wii?

Would it be cheaper to get a A/V cord to component adapter?

Red, White, and Yellow are NOT for component connections. These are just your typical composite cords. Red and White are audio, and Yellow is the video.

The Wii probably comes with an additional Component Kit which you will have to buy separately (I think), which has Red, Green, and Blue RCA for the component input on your HDTV.

I don't have a Wii, but I don't think it comes automatically with a component cable set. Could be wrong though, and if you have other cables, look for a "three-pronged" Red, Blue, and Green cable set.

DVD Polizei is right. AV inputs are left audio, right audio and a video input. Component are red, green and blue video inputs. I'm surprised it did anything?

Does Wii have an HDMI option? A cheap cord from monoprice would be the answer is it can.

I don't think the Wii does HDMI, we hooked ours up via component. And yes you need to purchase that seperate. Honestly I can't remember how I hooked up audio.

The Wii comes with standard composite cables. There are Component and S-Video cables available to purchase for it separately.

Thanks everyone!

We just ended unplugging the VCR. Right now the Wii is connected to just the standard connections, HDMI cable for the xbox is coming in less than a week

It's still worth it to upgrade the Wii connection to component when you have the chance.
