Question about projectors.
 

I have been looking into purchasing a projector for my home theater, and have a question regarding a particular issue. So far, I have been looking at projectors that output 720p, and have also looked at projectors that output 1080p. I have seen the difference on HDTV between the two; is there such a vast difference between projectors when using Blu-Ray and HD-DVD players?

I don't understand your question. You can see the difference between 720p and 1080p on a projector with HDTV and you want to know if the difference is the same with HD/BD DVD?

To many variables to answer such a question. And your own personal tastes come into play. IMO, the 50" 720p Pioneer/Panasonic Plasma give a better overall image then the vast majority of 1080p 50" sets.

Now at 100" you will likely see the resolution difference between 720p and 1080p. However, resolution is only about the 4th most important factor in overall image quality. So w/1080p, you might just get a really, really sharp crappy image (bad color, bad black levels, etc). I'm sure there are 720p pj that have a better overall image then 1080p.

Resolution should only be one factor in looking at a PJ (or any display). Many will argue it is not the most important factor.

Get the best projector you can get, it doesn't matter if it's 720p or 1080p.
So, basically, the question goes to how much do you want to expend?
Anything below $2,000 and you should look for a good 720p. Between $2K and $3K it used to be a toss up, but I think now it's more for 1080p. $3K and above it's obviously 1080p.
