LCD brightness, and a 46-47" recommendation
My buddy is looking for a 46-47" LCD TV. He also wants to know if a higher or lower cd/m2 is 'better'. Some are around 500, others are up to 900 cd/m2. What noticable difference do you see with varying cd/m's?
He is looking for an LCD in the 46-47" range, must have 2 HMDI in's, and how important is 1080p, really? He'd love to get one for $1,400-$1,600. Thanks |
if 1080p is not important to him, than that should be an easy budget to stay under. even if 1080p IS important to him, he will be able to stay under that with a very good set.
at 46", he should go 1080p if he is using it as a computer monitor. if it is just for TV/HDM there is no need for 1080 unless he is sitting 6' away. |
I picked up the Samsung LN-T4661 at Christmas for right at $1,500. And you should be able to find cheaper. I'm pleased with it.

Awesome, thanks guys. What is the deal with the cd/m's? Do you want a lower number, or higher? I remember checking that out when I got my TV, but that was 2 1/2 years ago & I forget.
