Can PS3/Blu Ray work on a 42" Hitachi Plasma Enhanced-definition television?
If so, can it? Thats the TV i have and i want to buy a PS3 but im not too sure how the quality will be. Im not too interested in the blu ray feature because im still more than happy to but standard dvds but with the gaming would it just look the same as say PS2 on a standard definition tv? Im kicking myself because eith the money i paid $2500 i could've bought a HDTV.

I actually have another question and wont waste a thread on it. What is the best for PS3? HDMI, Component or AV?
I've read that people have been saying Hdmi, my tv has got all of those but the thing is Hdmi is already taken up by the Set Top Box. I can still use AV cant i? My ps2 is connected to AV2 (i have three), will the PS3 connect the same same, from the console into AV or is it a bit more complicated then that?
Thanks for any answers in advance.

I'd connect your Set top box to component and the PS3 as HDMI.

^^^ Thanks fellas
Yeah, i would like to reduce cables, first i'll try AV because its the easiest one for me to connect and if i like the picture and sound i'll leave it if not i re-arrange everything. Meaning the set top box will get connected a different way and the ps3 connected with hdmi.

Hey JH...
Have you noticed a 'purplelish color' in the dark backround scenes with that TV? I ask because I sure have seen that with mine. Interestingly it seems to only appears on DVD playback and not on the cable signal.

I cant find a pdf of my tv, probably because its an older tv. But this is what i've copied and pasted from another thread i began a while ago.
# 42" Multi-System Plasma TV
# WorldWide NTSC/PAL/SECAM Color System
# WorldWide NTSC, PAL BG, PAL I, Secam BG, DK/ PAL DK TV tuners
# Panel Luminance 1500cd/m2 and Contrast Ratio 10,000:1
# New Built-in Full Multi-system Tuner
# Panel Life : 60,000hrs
# HDMI High Definition input
# HDTV Ready
# SRS WOW
# Horizontal/ Vertical viewing angle: Free
# High Standard in Panel Luminance and Contracts Ratio
# Effective Display 852 x480
Looking at that will i be able to put a PS3 on it? Because i've read that you cant if your TV doesnt have HDCP? My model number is 42PD380TA-P1
Sorry dude i cant say i have been getting that. EDIT: Although about 14 months ago my tv screen burst out into small blue, gree, red spots and i needed to get it repaired.

Ok cool thankyou, i asked because im not too good with this sort of thing and i just thought HDCP was different. I felt i needed to ask because i dont want to pay $700 (in Australia) for a ps3 and find that it wont play on my tv.

It's probably going to be a very long time before there are TVs that can't accept SD video, and devices that won't output SD. Sony would have tons of complaints from angry customers unable to use their PS3s if they could only be connected to HDTVs.
JHBulls, yes there is a big difference between composite (A/V) and HDMI. You need component or HDMI to get progressive scan, and with composite you'll have chroma noise.
