Olevia 37 inch LCD reviews/recommendations?

K-Mart has on its ad this 37" LCD HDTV for $650 and I was wondering if this is a good buy?

I don't own one, but I work at a kmart right now. It has a great looking picture, but I think it has only one hdmi port, and its a 1080i output.

well, 720p native. no need for 1080p on a set this size.

1 HDMI slot can be fixed with a switch from monoprice, or with a receiver with multiple hdmi connections and 1 going into the tv.

I picked up this TV a couple of weeks ago for around $750 and absolutely love it. Picture quality is great and I would definitely recommend it especially at that price. For what it's worth mine has 2 HDMI inputs. I believe this model originally had one input but all newer models should have two. Not sure which one you would end up with at Kmart, though.

I put an 27" Olevia in the bar. Got to say while I thought it was "nice" I wasn't overly impressed. It is bright. Very bright. And sharp. But I thought pretty poor black levels and it seems a tad harsh, almost digital looking. And tho a small picture I don't get that "3-D" look I get on my other HD displays. Now for the bar that is really a bright room (4 windows AND 4 skylights) it was a good choice.

I got a Samsung LCD for the living room at Christmas (46"). Much better blacks and more of that 3-D look I expect from HD. But of course it was almost double the price you are looking at.

Picked it up yesterday and it looks great. The K-Mart nearby only had the previous model, so I went to another one 15 minutes from my house and they had the newer one with the 2 HDMI inputs. I already plugged the PS3 and the HD player and both look fantastic.

By the way, thanks for all the replies. The help was much appreciated.

Go to the owners thread in AVS to get ideas on settings and calibration. Typically one of the first things to do out of the box is turn down the brightness.
