Cable to DVD-Recorder Question

I tried connecting my cable box to my DVD recorder using a composite cable and although the picture comes up fine, I don't get any sound. Now, my DVD player is connected to my TV via component cable so could that be culprit?

You know composite and component carry video only, right? You'll need separate audio cables of some sort.

(And composite is the worst video quality. Does your cable box have a better video output, such as S-video or component?)

Edit: Nevermind. Got it working. I did forget to connect the audio cable... Doh!

Thanks
