School me on: Projectors

Can anybody chime in on critical requirements for projects? Lumens and resolution appear to be the main components.

I'm in the market for one, but the primary useage is for business. Probably won't be exceeding 1024x768 for the resolution, and the venues will probably vary. What's perhaps the lowest brightness that will cut it?

Is anybody familiar with some models that are small and still powerful? Don't want anything that is very bulky to carry around. I know there are some very tiny ones, but I'm not sure on price to performance ratio.

I placed an order for one at work today. Panasonic PT P1SDU. It is under 3 pounds and does everything we need it to do.

That does look nice. However, I think it would be safe to go with something capable of a higher resolution as well as a bump in lumens, while keeping the weight and roughly the price.

Any suggestions?

Do you really need the 768 PJ? Most people end up making Powerpoints at 640x480 or 800x600. Not too much need to be above that if this is the main purpose. My dad just picked up a Viewsonic 800x600 for $400, I think. Haven't had time to do much with it, though.

Obviously, higher res is wanted for TV use, so it depends what you really need.

Basically, you can never have enough lumens for business use. Bright rooms galore. This is pretty much the main factor, AFAIK. But simply looking at the specs won't help much. The mfgrs use different ways of stating the lumens so comparison is difficult.
