LG Super Blu Ray & HD DVD player

I'm looking to maybe get one of these as I recently purchased the Sammy 32" LCD for my bedroom. I have the A1 in the basement & the Samsung Bp1000 in the living room and am curious as to how this one stacks up to the other single format units.

Also, does anyone know who has the best prices for this one?

Thanks in advance

Never mind. Just read some reviews online and this looks like a stinker.

If you can wait Samsung will be releasing their dual player soon: http://gear.ign.com/articles/807/807976p1.html

This is probally a silly question, check it is a silly question, but do you think they will every come out with HD DVD Portable players or Blu-Ray Portable players?

I'm sticking with SD DVDs & I'm in the "I hope the new formats go away" club, but say one format does win & SD DVDs get eliminated by one of the two new formats, Do you think they will make portable players like they do for DVDs?

Yes, I'm sure this will happen. But not anytime soon. Maybe a year or two from now.

And they have the nerve to charge $1200 for it!

Understand this - an A2 and a PS3 AND 10 DVDs are still cheaper than this.

First part...maybe. But not in the near future. I don't see a benefit to having HD on a 5" screen.

2nd part....the formats are not going away. Doesn't mean SD DVD is either. Heck Albums are still popular is some circles.

Oh, OK, I am lovin' this Sammy ! I'll definately wait for it! And at the $1,049.00 price point it beats the LG in cost as well. I'll need three of them so, I'll just start saving now. Thanks <b>amped</b>!

Not near future, no. But it will come. There isn't much benefit to DVD on a 5" screen, either. It's the portability that counts.

This is an awesome player - But for $1,049 its still quite pricey.

you can get a A2 for $300, and PS3 for $500.

But I guess that what you get for the shinny little blk box that plays them both.

Yeah but the A2 doesn't output at 1080P, hopefully the Samsung will.

The SRP on the LG unit just dropped to $999, which is still too much considering it doesn't allow full function playback of extras on HD DVD.

The upcoming Samsung model sounds much more promising. I'd wait.

If you're intent on an integrated player, then definately wait for the Samsung.
