Another "help me choose my new TV thread"

So my last TV finally gave out on me. It last only a few years and I am very disappointed, especially since the TV my parents bought like fifteen years ago is still running as smoothly as the day they bought it and I spent like woooooooaaaayyyyyy more than them.

Anywho, I am now in the market to pick up a new one. I am looking for a television that is going to be HD and will let me utilize the full capabilities of my xbox 360 and my (future) ps3 display capabilities. I want a larger screen TV. Cost, as of right now, really isn't to much of an issue. It is just, I have been out of the TV "game" for so long, I don't know what is good and what is crap anymore.

My last TV was a first gen HD television from hitatchi, I will never ever buy another one.

Thanks for your input!!

As a Plasma supporter, I advise you to look into the 52" LCD from Sharp.

This is one of the few times I will make an LCD recommendation.

Sharp is the only LCD that comes somewhat close to Plasma in terms of Blacks and Color reproduction.

I forget the model number, but it is their newer one that was released a few months ago.

I play a lot of games on my Panasonic Plasma (both Wii and PS3) and they look terrific, but it doesnt seem you would end up going the Plasma route.

50" Panasonic Plasma (720p) ~$1,600
52" Sharp (1080p) ~$3,000

Good deal. I am just so dang lost when it comes to what is the best now-a-days in regards to televisions. I want to maximize the use of my xbox and my ps3 (when i get it), and actually have something nice to attach the surround sound I dumped 2 grand on.

I will for sure look into both those televisions.
