Combo Dvd VHS Players Question
Hello,
Why is it that some dvd vhs combo players have tuners and some don't. Isn't the point of the combo player to be able to watch and record with VHS. Since most of us still have straight cable..........Sony recommends contacting my cable company for a box. Why should I have to pay more money. Thanks..... |
I think the main purpose of these, were for people to take their home movies that are on vhs tapes, and put them on dvds. Since vcr's are fading out of the picture, slowly but surely, folks wanted to make sure their families would be able to watch the home movies, years down the road. Tapes stretch with use, and break down with age, so the dvds should be around and playable much longer.
That's my thoughts on it anyway............ :) You should still be able to record the channel you're watching, either to tape or dvd. Without a tuner, you only lose the ability to record one channel, while you watch another. You can't do that with satellite or digital cable anyway, so it's no big deal for a lot of people. A vcr (with a tuner) is so cheap now, they are pretty much disposable. Pick one up somewhere, if you need one with a tuner. |
