Problem with my Oppo 970HD (speedup problem)?

Recently Ive noticed a problem with some of my DVDs. Now Ive watched quite a few the past 2 weeks but this problem started with Gladiator Directors cut. It had ALOT of speedup parts that really looked like a quick fast forward. It last maybe a second or 2 but its real noticeable. Kinda like when a cheap movie uses a speedup to make the characters look like theyre moving fast. Now this obviously doenst happen much nowadays but Im seeing it at spots where no fake speedup is needed. Ive noticed it in 2 movies 1 TV show so far.

Problems:
Gladiator DC
X Files S1
Fantastic 4 DC

Now Ive seen alot of things that dont show this problem like Brisco County, Family Guy, Rescue Me, 4 Brothers, The Patriot, etc. But these 3 gave me problems Ive never seen before. It was really bad on Gadiator so I was going to exchange it. After seeing it on other movies though, Im wondering what the problem is.

Any help? It would be greatly appreciated.

Years ago I had a Sony DVD player that had exactly the same problem you're experiencing. It turned out that the laser pickup was going bad and needed to be replaced.

Regardless, clearly there is a problem with your player. Contact Oppo about a repair/replacement.

Sometimes it happens. At least your player is still under warranty, so it won't cost you anything.
