I'm in the market for a new DVD Player and am looking at getting the OPPO DV-970HD. I wondering if it was possible to view DivX video files from the USB port or from flash memory cards? Or are those strictly intended to be used for photo viewing?

This is the same model I have and I did try to play some xvid and divx files from a flashdrive. The USB port is only 1.1 and couldn't handle the files smoothly. I guess it depends on how critical you are in your viewing, but the choppy play on every file I tried convinced me to give up after only 3-4 minutes on each.

I can't speak to memory cards as I haven't tried those.
