Painting CAN lights for theater?
I am in the middle of a theater install - I am installing CAN lighting into a black ceiling. Question is should I paint the CAN lights black so they blend better into the ceiling? My concern is that if they are black, they might not produce enough light. I assume that the interior of the lights are meant to act as a reflector to bounce of light - if the interior was black it would not longer reflect the light.
Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks

I would assume you would get reflector lamps to send most of the light out.
I don't think I would paint the inside, as it will still get quite hot (especially black).
Maybe the bulb will hide the interior enough and you could just paint the trim rings.
EDIT: This may be ideal, if you can find the rings ay your home depot. Online says $16 for the rings, but this picture is better:

Thanks for the help. I ending up getting lights like the above with the black inside, and a white rim. I will spray paint the rim black.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
