need advice for the perfect monitor

im currently seeking to buy a monitor (something around 20-23 inches widescreen).

I need it for when I'm playing PS3 and when Im using my laptop (powerbook) I can use it for that too.

I was thinking this Dell...

but the thing is, I am a bit confused as to how I can connect a PS3 to this. While at work, my friend uses monitors like this and she said you can't use it for videogames but my other friend said its okay for it.

what type of connection would i need to begin with so i can connect a videogame console (a PS3) to any monitor for that matter?

you can use an hdmi to dvi adapter or if this monitor take components, you can use that too

thanks for the posts.

but are there any monitors at 300$ or below that has a widescreen format and already has those component things so i wouldnt need to buy another plug?

No, not generally. Dell is one of the best and cheapest to combine monitor and TV specs. But I think the 24" is the smallest to have the TV inputs, and it is over $600. Otherwise you are looking at less resolution (720p TV resolution) or no HDTV inputs like component. If the only issue is HDMI-DVI, a cable is an easy solution and no big deal.

But that cable above is vastly overpriced. You can get a cable like that at Monoprice for under $10, and it will probably be BETTER quality.

What you are looking for is called a "television".

okay so i decided to go with either:

this monitor:

or

this hdtv:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824112182

the primary use for this will be for my ps3, computer monitor (maybe), and for my dvds.

-if i get the benQ, i will only need an hdmi cable right as far as ps3 goes? no need to buy an hdmi or component dvi-adapter?

-do lcd's break easily?

-if i get the hdtv, how long will that last me? i heard from people of their hdtv stories that pixels start getting stuck after a few months or so.

-if i have my dvd player attached to anyone of these with composite cables, will it look worse than watching it on a standard tv?

sorry for the questions. im just trying not to screw up and basically not waste money.
